Advantage Multi® (imidacloprid + moxidectin) for Dogs
Advantage Multi® for Dogs helps protect your canine pal from more than just heartworm disease.
- This broad-spectrum prevention also protects from fleas, and treats and controls intestinal worms and sarcoptic mange.
HOW DOES ADVANTAGE MULTI FOR DOGS WORK?
Advantage Multi for Dogs is a medication with two active ingredients - Imidacloprid and Moxidectin.
Imidacloprid is a systemic insecticide that binds to invertebrates' receptors of insect nerve cells. The insecticide disrupts and damages the insect's central nervous system (CNS) and the insects eventually die. It kills fleas on contact with dogs' skin and hair coat.
Moxidectin is a powerful avermectin parasiticide and 100% effective heartworm preventative from the heartworm's immature form called Dirofilaria immitis to adult heartworms in dogs. Moxidectin treats intestinal parasites (i.e., hookworms, roundworms, and whipworms). It is also approved for treating sarcoptic mange.

HOW IS ADVANTAGE MULTI FOR DOGS ADMINISTERED?
Advantage Multi for Dogs is administered topically with an easy-to-apply single dose applicator tube (i.e., pipette) directly on the skin between the dog's shoulder blades. The medication should be applied three to four spots along the spine. Advantage Multi for Dogs begins to kill fleas within four hours.
After applying your pet's treatment, wait several hours to pet him, and 24 hours to bathe him. This is in order for the medication to be properly absorbed into the dog's skin and work as effectively as possible.
Below is a dosage chart with five strengths and five boxes, depending on the dog's body weight. The usual monthly dosage is 4.5 mg imidacloprid per pound and 1.1 mg moxidectin per pound.
